Josh Thrift off to Russia to represent Australia

Great news! Josh Thrift, our club junior, has been selected to represent Australia at the Under 16 World Snooker Championships in Russia.  This event will be held in Tyumen in August.  Now 14,  Josh joined our club when he was only 11 years old and has already made his mark in many of the club’s competitions.  He also recently achieved the runner-up position in the Australian U15 Championships.

This fantastic opportunity for Josh is a great reward for his consistent professional attitude to the game and we wish him every success.  Naturally, the trip to Russia involves considerable cost and with the tournament only a couple of months away there is very little time for Josh and his family to raise the funds needed to meet the costs involved.  To that end, a ‘Gofundme’ campaign has been launched to provide a way for individuals to make a financial contribution to Josh’s expenses.  The link to this campaign is: www.gofundme.com/josh-thrift-u16-snooker-world-championships.  The Committee of Buderim Snooker Club will also be discussing how they can support Josh.

Good luck Josh!
