Yesterday, 9 members took part in the annual Champion of Champions Tournament. This event was held over from the 2021 season and featured players who had won one of the Club’s competitions throughout the year. The competition started with a ’round-robin’ in two groups: on Table 1 were Mandy Oliver, Ian Belsham, Lance Richards and Ian Thomas and on Table 2 those competing were John Kennedy, Mike Dickens, Peter Traynor, Bob Pearce and Peter Taylor.
At the conclusion of the round-robin one player from each group had won all of their games – Ian Thomas and John Kennedy. These two then took part in the best of three frames final in which Ian defeated John by two frames to one, This was a hard-fought match with the outcome going down to the black ball in the last frame.
Congratulations to Ian Thomas on his victory and to all those who too part. Thanks to Vice President Ron Ward for organising and running the event on the day and to Secretary Jeff Pickering for his assistance. Thanks to the Club for also providing lunch for the participants.
