New Social Pairs Competition

In March, a new social pairs competition was held over two successive Wednesday nights.  Sixteen players entered and were paired up according to their current handicaps to provide for even matches.  On the first night, four pairs played in a round-robin on each table and the best two pairs from each table went through to play in Week 2.  Matches were limited to 20 minutes per game – the winner being the leading pair when time ran out.  In week 2, the pairings of Dave Golding/Keith Bowser, Peter Taylor/Judith Swanson, Bob Lewis/Brian Bowser and Graham Gibson/Gavin Baynham competed to make the final.  After some very close matches the final came down to Gibson/Baynham vs Taylor/Swanson.  In a good match, Gibson/Baynham came through to win.  Congratulations to you both!  The  evening was rounded off with pizzas and refreshments.  Further competitions to promote social interaction between members are envisaged in coming months
